Therapeutic Approach
I hold a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and as such abide by their Ethical Framework (www.bacp.co.uk/ethical-framework).
I am committed to providing an anti-discriminatory service. I strive to ensure that this practice is present in all our work together.
I am trained in a variety of ‘humanistic’ counselling modalities, which encourage people to think about their feelings and take responsibility for their thoughts and actions. I primarily use a combination of Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis.
Gestalt Therapy looks at both the individual and the wider life context. You are helped to focus on your immediate thoughts, feelings and behaviour to gain deeper awareness of how you relate to others and to situations.
Transactional Analysis can help you understand how you communicate with yourself and others, and deal with self-criticism or people-pleasing behaviours. We also look at how your beliefs and the way you interpret the world around you can create recurrent and problematic patterns of behaviour.
Additionally I am furthering my education by undertaking a masters degree in Existential Psychotherapy. This approach helps clients to make their own sense of the world, and deal with anxieties around death, freedom, responsibilities, isolation and meaninglessness.

Frequently asked questions
A/S/L?
I'm a 39 year-old, cisgender man, living near to Canterbury in Kent, but I see clients wherever you're located in the UK via Zoom.
Who do you work with?
I offer individual counselling to adults over the age of 18. I do not offer relationship counselling or work with children/young people.
In most cases, I do not work with clients who are seeing someone from a primary mental health team. I am also unable to work with those receiving treatment from another therapist.
If I don't think I'm the right therapist for you, or you have needs beyond my experience I'll always try to offer a referral to someone better suited. For some presenting issues I feel in-person therapy is more appropriate, again I'll let you know if that's the case.
Are sessions confidential?
All BACP members are required to have regular supervision. This means my work is monitored by an experienced clinician to ensure that it is safe, ethical and effective. Aspects of our work may be discussed during these sessions, but your full name and other identifiable details will not be shared. My supervisor is also bound by the same rules of confidentiality.
There are also certain instances where I may have to break confidentiality for safeguarding or legal reasons. We'll discuss all of this when we first chat.
How much does it cost?
The cost is £65 for a 50-minute session. Fees are due in advance of the session via secure payment link. I do not have any concessionary slots available.
What's your availability?
I currently have some availability for weekly sessions during daytime hours (08.00-16.00) on Monday and Thursday. I also have some afternoon slots on Tuesdays. Please get in contact to secure your preferred weekly time-slot.
How do I get started?
It's normal to feel nervous or unsure about starting counselling. Many clients say they feel a sense of relief once they’ve taken that first step. You’re welcome to reach out by email, text, or whatsapp—whatever feels most comfortable. I'm happy to answer any questions.
If you'd like, we can arrange a free 15 minute phone or video call to help you get a feel for talking with me. A good connection between client and therapist is key.
The next step is to book an initial 50-minute assessment session (charged at my usual rate). This is a chance to explore what’s brought you to counselling, whether it’s a specific issue or a general need to talk things through.
After the session, you can take time to decide if you’d like to continue—there’s no pressure. If you choose to move forward, we’ll work together to set your goals and meet weekly for ongoing sessions.
